Any photo, on canvas.
Choose the mesh first, because it sets both size and detail: 10, 13 or 18 mesh canvas. Then pick the width and the number of colors, and chart a pillow, ornament or wall piece from your own picture, one tent stitch per square. Your photo stays on your device.

Choose canvas mesh and colors
10, 13 or 18 mesh, the width in stitches or inches, and 2 to 40 colors. Fewer colors make a bolder, easier canvas.
Stitch in tent stitch
Each chart square is one tent stitch covering one canvas intersection. The canvas size adds 3" on every side for blocking and finishing.

Good to know
What canvas mesh should I choose?
Mesh is the number of stitches per inch. 10 mesh gives a bolder, quicker piece with thicker yarn; 18 mesh gives finer detail with more stitches. The same chart gets smaller as the mesh number goes up: size in inches is stitches ÷ mesh.
How is needlepoint different from cross-stitch?
Needlepoint is worked on stiff canvas, usually in tent stitch, and the stitches cover the whole canvas. Cross-stitch uses X-shaped stitches on soft Aida or evenweave and usually leaves the background showing. Both are stitched from the same kind of grid chart.
Does the background need to be stitched?
In needlepoint the background is normally stitched too, so every chart square is a stitch. If your photo has a transparent background, those squares are left blank on the chart and you can fill them with a background color of your choice.
Which yarn colors should I use?
Match yarn or thread to each swatch by eye in good light. The tool does not convert colors to brand numbers.
How much yarn do I need?
The color key shows a yarn length for every color: one diagonal in front and a long slant behind each tent stitch on your canvas mesh, plus 50% for tails, canvas thickness and tension. Needlepoint yarn comes in many put-ups, so compare the length with the label of the yarn you choose and no skein count is given.
